  1. THANK YOU FOR THESE IDEAS! I AM GOING TO TEACH SECOND GRADE SOON AND THESE ARE GREAT TOOLS I CAN USE TO AID IN THEIR READING. I LOVE THE 2 MINUTE SHARE ABOUT BOOKS. THIS SPIN ON "SHOW AND TELL" IS TERRIFIC!!!

  2. Thanks heaps for this post. I've only been teaching 4 years, and it was good to see that I'm doing some things right! My kids love our morning "read aloud" time, and there's always great competition when I finish a book to see who can get it first to read it again. I think I'm going to try the "Book Talks" in my classroom sometime soon. It sounds like a great way to include the children in the sharing, ot just the teacher. I'm really working on that this year. I just placed a Scholastic order, and, like you, I take great delight in reading the books myself before they hit the shelves of our classroom library.
